About All Sewn Up Wales
My name is Helen Rhiannon and I run sewing workshops in and around South Wales! I love sewing and especially love sharing my knowledge through workshops. As well as workshops, I also write tutorials and have a YouTube channel. I recently released my first book called Sew Perfect Pets and I was also a guest presenter on Sewing Quarter TV before taking maternity leave in 2019. Life is busy but full of fun and all things sewing related!! I hope you can join in the fun with me in some way.
Due to Covid-19, workshops are currently on hold but you can join me on my facebook page to see what I am up to. I hope to start workshops again really soon when things are safe to do so….hopefully before Summer 2021.
I have always loved making things from a young age and remember learning how to hand sew in primary school. It was my textiles teacher in comprehensive school who really inspired me and taught me how to use a sewing machine. I haven’t looked back since!
I am fortunate to have been brought up by the beautiful coastline of Gower in Swansea. I returned to Swansea in 2003 after completing a Fashion Design degree in London and not long after, I set up the Helen Rhiannon bespoke label. I now specialise in designing and making unique handmade wedding dresses.
My love of sewing then led me to set up the All Sewn Up Workshops in 2010. Sewing is a skill that brings people together in so many ways. I enjoy being able to inspire others from aged 6 to 106! Being able to share my love of sewing with people through workshops, online tutorials and now even further afield with my beautiful book, Sew Perfect Pets is truly amazing.
My little motto is “If it is too perfect, people won’t believe you made it”, so don’t be too precious when making any project and have fun sewing!
About the Workshops
My workshops are held in my cosy wooden log cabin, at the end of a lane surrounded by trees, in Dunvant, on the edge of the very beautiful Gower Peninsular. It is so peaceful and allows 4 people to fit in for workshops so keeping it small and almost one to one. For a map, click here. I am really flexible with how I run the workshops so if there is something you would like to do and you can’t see it, just get in touch.
My experience of teaching has taken me from teaching Design & Technology at Secondary School through to teaching Fashion Design and Pattern Cutting at Further and Higher education. I also co-developed and ran the first Apprenticeship Pilot in Wales in Fashion and Textiles. I have a deep passion for promoting creative skills in education and allowing people of all ages to develop skills and careers in the industry.
Under the Welsh Assembly Government, I am also a Big Ideas Wales Role Model. I give talks to schools and colleges about enterprise and encourage people to further their skills and achieve new goals.
If you would like to watch my demonstrations on Sewing Quarter TV, I have them on my Videos page on YouTube. You can watch the channel on Freeview 73 or Sky 687. To see when I am next on, check out my home page!
