Three Crosses Community Hall
Did you know that February is Heart Month? Since my son was born in 2020 with a serious Heart Defect, I try and do something to raise funds for Heart Month each year. Morgan was born on the 1st February and had his life saving open heart surgery on the 10th February, so it seems fitting to do something to give back to the charities who have helped us on our journey.
This year, I am keeping it simple as my energy levels are slightly zapped after a full on 2022! So, to keep it easy and to celebrate Heart Month, I’d like to invite you to come and craft with me on Thursday February 9th from 6-8:30pm
Cost: FREE. It is not a taught session, it is more a social session with some sewing thrown in if you like! I can help but it won’t be in a teaching capacity. You can just turn up, but if you want to book in online I can send an email reminder before the event. (I can also gauge how many cakes to make!)
Where: Three Crosses Community Centre, Swansea. Tea, coffee and cake will be on sale to raise funds for Heart Month.
When: Pop in anytime from 6pm until 8:30pm. Stay as long as you like!
What to bring: You can bring your own project, or you can buy a kit from my Pop Up Shop. 25% of sales will be going to my three charities. Please only bring projects you can do by hand as I won’t be setting up machines. You can sew, embroider, knit, cross stitch, crochet, macramé or just sit and enjoy a cuppa and cake!
Last year, everyone who took part in my fundraising event, made the most amazing heart squares. I have been flat out writing my dressmaking book and still without a studio so my plans to sew them together were put on hold. I will bring them with me to the event for everyone to see and start to arrange them for sewing.
The Charities: –
The Grand Appeal
We were supported by The Grand Appeal throughout our stay in Bristol with stress free accommodation and also many other ways with Morgan’s care and recovery. The support they offer the Bristol Children’s Hospital is amazing. The Grand Appeal helps families from the South West and South Wales.
Heart Heroes
This is a small but amazing charity who help families of children with heart conditions all around the UK. They offer continued support to the child and the whole family in a truly unique way. I now volunteer and help run the Wales Heart Heroes Hub, which I feel privileged to be a part of.
Tiny Tickers
This charity helps with the crucial detection, care and treatment of babies with serious heart conditions. Training sonographers to spot defects during routine scans is something we will forever be grateful for, as it allowed us to prepare for the heart journey ahead.
